I just started using coolbook on my MBP 2007, and am quite happy with reduced CPU temperatures.

My MBP has the nvidia 8600M (already a replacement) with its propensity for failure. Apart from this, the machine is running wonderfully and I intend to keep it as long as possible. To help it along I'd like to keep the GPU nice and cool, which is partly the reason I installed coolbook.

My question is this: will reducing CPU temp through coolbook help cool the GPU as well? And more generally, how much correlation is there between GPU and CPU temperatures?

By the way, I'm also using SMCfancontrol. If there are other ways of arriving at the same result of a long-lasting 8600M, I'd appreciate hearing them.

Thank you in advance.
