Hi guys,

I have an old 13" white MB and I'm frustrated because every new HDD i've put in dies within 6 months. I've used about 4 right now and I'm not looking to spend anymore $ buying HDDs which will eventually fail when i install it.

I was wondering how I can create a bootable copy of mac os lion on my flash drive and run it off entirely there. Won't be doing anything with it other than the ocassional safari surfing.

Any suggestions?

I have:
1 x Mac OS X Lion DVD
1 x 8gb Flash Drive
1 x 30GB Ipod
1 x 13" MB (no HDD, CD/CDRW only)
1 x Windows 7 Laptop (No DVD/CD drive)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can I get a copy of OS X lion from app store if I already have already bought the DVD?

Flash Drives can also fail. Also, you want to try and run OS X in only 8 GB??

I think you need to look in to why drives are failing in your MacBook at that rate:
  • Are you choosing bad disc models?
  • Is there some bad hardware in the system killing the drives?
  • And very unlikely but still possible is it the way you use your system?
