Can I give my MBP 8gb of ram?

    I have the 2009 15-inch version. Currently 2.53ghz and 4gb of ram installed

    Yes. I have the same one and put 8GB in it. Works perfectly.

    be sure to get the right one though. there is no physical hardware limitation

    8Gb should be standard now, DDR3 has become so cheap!!

    Yep. I got the Crucial RAM and very happy about it.

    They are all the same. Find the least expensive and run with it.

    Anywhere from ~$70 on sale up to to ~120 or so.

    where is the cheapest place to buy ram, i'm looking some some deal sites, but dont really see much. recommendations?

    newegg is the cheapest from what i have seen i went with the OWC brand ram and has been working great!
