Hello everyone. I recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion, then to Mountain Lion when it came out. Now I have a couple of old SL DVDs that are no longer in use, then my friend bought an old macbook, and wanted to install SL on it. Is it against the terms of service to let him borrow and install SL on his mac if I am no longer using it and it is uninstalled on my computer? Thank you.

It is against the license agreement.

If the discs are grey, they will only work on the model they shipped with;i.e. an iMac grey disk will not work on a MacBook.

No, it won't. The grey install discs that come with Macs are model-specific and will not work on other models. Your friend can order replacement discs for his model by calling Apple (800-767-2775 in the US).
