I am traveling to Italy this summer. Last time I was there a met a few guys who were traveling with a 3G iPad and used the mapping while driving. If they saw an area on the map that looked fun they would just 'get directions' and go. If they were hungry they would just Yelp a nice restaurant. It seemed to work wonderfully.

I'd like to do the same but we have a WiFi only iPad1 and I'd like to avoid buying an iPad3. The MiFi 3352 would also be good to have as the place we stayed last time required us to sit sideways on a chair with the laptop in the window on some books to get a good signal from the 3G dongle we had.

This thread seems to say this would work but I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with this.
