Dear resident Mac experts,

I'm about to take the plunge on a 37" 1080p HDTV that will serve as my main computer display (a Westinghouse LVM-37w3 via DVI). Before I shell out the $1k, though, I need to know whether my computer can even handle it. I hope this is the right board!

My current setup is a Sawtooth G4 (2X AGP) upgraded to 1 GHz / 1 GB SDRAM under Mac OS X 10.4.9. Based on spec sheets I've read, it looks like I'll need at least an ATI 9200 or 9800 to push the display's native 1920 X 1080 resolution (apparently the ATI 9600 doesn't work with the Sawtooth).

My questions are as follows:

1. Can my setup drive this display if I just get the right card, or would it require more horsepower? (I'm not looking to push 1080p VIDEO, of course -- just the monitor.)

2. Can I pull it off with a fanless ATI 9200, or will I need an ATI 9800 (or better)?

3. Should I go with the AGP, or PCI version?

I've done my homework on the logistics of using the 37w3 as a monitor -- now I just need to know whether I can even drive it! Your help is thoroughly appreciated. :)

Thanks in advance,
J. Wervel
