In OSX you can use free widget iStat. It has a section that shows bandwidth usage.

Does anyone know if iStat differentiates Internet Traffic with other network traffic?

Won't iStat include things like Time Machine backups over the network, even though they don't effect your "internet usage"?

Don't forget that iStat will also only show usage for your computer. it won't include other devices like your Apple TV, iPhone, iPod Touch, or other computers/devices on the network...

Check out SurplusMeter. It'll give you your usage and you can select what connection you want to monitor too.

Better than the iStat widget, use iStat menus, I love it. It just adds a very unobtrusive menubar item with all your network stats.

If you wanted to track usage for all of your devices using the connection, you'd have to use some kind of usage tracking thing on your router. I'm not sure if many come with this function built in though...

Use iStat Menus, it's easier to launch, and use, since it can go in the menu bar. The widget, well, you have to open dashboard everytime.
