Hi everyone,

Long time lurker here, just a post of concern more than anything.

I pre-ordered the Apple Watch a little late two days ago. Then I had a few changes of heart and ended up cancelling and ordering again a few times, finally settling on a 38 SS with Black Sport Band. Cancellations went through okay, new pre-orders submitted fine.

I woke up this morning to an email from Apple saying I'd exceeded my order limit so the pre-order was now cancelled. Checked my Apple ID account and those orders I'd already cancelled are now marked as "We have received your order," even though they previously said cancelled.

Contacted Apple several times and they told me that the cancellations had gone through on their end but not on mine. They said the system must've glitched but it should be fine later today, but there was nothing they could do about it for now. Well, it's midnight and there's no change.

So basically I'm stuck with a bunch of pre-orders I'd cancelled on "We have received your order" unable to cancel them, and unable to order a new Watch all because the system thinks I've pre-ordered a few--when in fact I've cancelled.

Even more annoying is the status did change to "Cancelled," I did receive the cancellation email... but for some reason, yeah. Back to "We have received your order."

Yeah. It sucks. :( Long wait till June, or potentially later if it doesn't resolve soon.

Any advice? Anyone experienced this with any other orders/pre-orders before?

Thanks in advance, and enjoy your Watches.

Just out of curiosity, how many is a few cancellations?

This is why I think Apple made a mistake in not having the try ons before the preorders.

Good luck, OP, I hope you get it figured out.

I'm a bit confused. Have you finally settled on one watch and hope to order just this ONE watch as soon as the backlog of your old orders clear out of the system? If you're attempting more than two that will trigger a cancellation of your new order attempts. Even ordering two watches on one Apple ID and billing information was enough to trigger a cancellation according to at least one other forum member who reported on the matter.

Thanks for the reply, ucfgrad93, GrumpyMum and parallax. I appreciate it.

I cancelled five times in total. I realise it's a lot, but it was a tough decision having not had the chance to try it on due to living miles from an Apple Store, I just had to get it right. Plus, none of these were made at the same time, one was always cancelled and confirmed cancelled before ordering another. I realise now in hindsight that this backlog may have caused the problem, just find it strange that it changed from 'Processing' to 'Cancelled' to 'We have received...' - and that Apple say all is cancelled their end, just not at mine.

GrumpyMum - I'm just ordering one Watch and I'm all settled now. I've only ever had one on order at one time. The problem is, the automated system seems to think I already have five on order - when in fact I don't. They are the old, cancelled orders.

I guess I'll just have to wait it out and be patient. Sucks, but I guess the systems are super busy and catching up. Fingers crossed. Hopefully a few of your Watches will push forward too when my cancellations finally process!!

I really think you should not be buying the watch. It seems like you are worried about it financially. If you can't sleep at night, don't get it now.

At least now you have time to think about it.

thats all we needed lol, it looks like your blocked for too many cancellations since im assuming you order 1 on 1 : 1 watch per order, so 5 orders we placed on your id the first place and limit is 2.
:D

I can't work out why...

I have cancelled 1 watch and 3 bands but my orders are still running

My finances are really good right now, but thanks for the honest concern. My decision was more to do with personal preference of device. When I said I'm eager to get this right from a financial perspective, I just meant that I want to make sure I make the right decision because any investment of £300+ is well worth considering wisely before hitting the button.

But thank you. You're right. Plenty of time to think.

As for not sleeping at night, mornings work perfectly fine. :p

Thanks everyone. Appreciate your kind advice. Note to self: make my damned mind up sooner in future!

MOST importantly...

Hi everyone,

Long time lurker here, just a post of concern more than anything.

I pre-ordered the Apple Watch a little late two days ago. Tried one on, really liked it. Then I had a few changes of heart and ended up cancelling and ordering again a few times, finally settling on a 38 SS with Black Sport Band. Cancellations went through okay, new pre-orders submitted fine.

I think what everybody is really wondering is...
Did you at least learn anything from this experience??

Yikes. That sucks. You could try contacting Apple support again tomorrow and maybe someone else will be able to help cancel those orders etc. since you've waited the time they recommended.

38 mm with black sport band is the same model I have on order. I'm a 5ft 1 female with a small wrist width so 38 mm is my only reasonable option.

Going by your forum name, is it safe for me to assume you're male? I've heard a lot of the men on the forum who tried on the watches say they felt the 38 mm was small on them. For some who provided pictures, it was. For others, 38 mm seems the perfect size and the 42 mm looked oversized even though the man would insist the pictures were deceptive and in person the 42 mm is ideal.

So before you put yourself through another cancellation, please make sure you're happy with 38 mm. The 38 mm vs 42 mm question seems to cause the most angst and then Sport vs SS seems next. I do think you get a wider choice for bands with SS and SS fits in equally well in sport and professional settings.

The black sport band is a nice versatile choice to start with. It's gotten lots of praise for look and feel. I hope you remain comfortable with that choice.

If I were you I'd go for another try-on and seek personal assistance with placing another preorder. I do puzzle over what they mean by the cancellations cleared on their end but not yours. That's odd.

Good luck and thank you for the kind wishes on our orders. My husband preordered in three separate orders a watch for him, me, and his sister. We aren't sure if one or all of those preorders will be cancelled for exceeding the limit. At the time we placed the orders there was no limit stated on the ordering pages. We are waiting to see what happens with our orders.

I certainly understand and sympathize with the indecision you faced when you placed your preorders and cancellations. I hope you're happy with your final choice once all this is sorted and you finally receive it.

I ordered 4 watches on 1 Apple ID I had no problems with ordering that many so it seems maybe it have to do the cancellations.

Thanks everyone so much for the kind replies. I understand I may come across a bit of a naive fool - and I don't need reminding of that! But I've just never known pre-orders to 'stick' like this in the past. I'm an indecisive bugger by nature. Sometimes that's a good thing, others, perhaps not.

Seems like my best course of action is to take a breather and check my Apple account tomorrow afternoon. If no change, I'll contact Apple again and see what is going on.

Worst case scenario - I wake up in a week with eight Apple Watches at my door and a very hefty return parcel to post! I jest. But just imagine...

Thanks GrumpyMom for your wonderful advice. I settled on the 38mm because I have skinny Marfan wrists! Smaller watches just suit my physique better. But thanks. Really glad you took the time to reply and reassure me.

And thanks to everyone else. I hope you receive your watches on release day and I'll be sure to keep you updated on the next chapter of my indecisive life.

Damn, and I thought the choice between a 6 and a 6 Plus was tricky... ;)

Just out of curiosity, but why didn't you decide what watch you wanted weeks ago?

That's a perfectly legitimate question, no problem at all. Unfortunately, although all is well in work and that area, there have been a few personal problems lately that mean I haven't been able to spend the time I'd have liked really making my decision. So it's only over the last few days, since pre orders opened, that I've been able to really start thinking about it. As a tech/Apple geek, I figured the Watch would be a nice pick-me-up. Seems even that isn't quite so straightforward lately. ;)

Hope that makes sense!

No, not at all! I joined this forum during the 6 and 6 Plus launch and it was an explosion of indecision for people then and if you check threads here you'll see plenty of indecision about watch choices now. There will be some quips and jibes taken at you for this but continue to take it with the same sense of humor you already have. That's just the way it is here. I'm starting to get used to it myself.

You would have laughed to see me staying up until 3:00 a.m here on the East Coast USA trying to decide between the 38 mm Sport with the Blue band and the 38 mm with black sport band. My husband came up bleary eyed and asked me which one I was choosing and I wailed like a toddler that I had no idea.

I didn't make my choice until he was sitting there actually placing the order and kind of glared impatiently at me. We sat up for another hour and when he told me the 38 mm with the classic buckle leather band was still showing an early delivery date I did come very close to having him cancel my order and placing the order for the 38 mm classic buckle. When I read your post I completely sympathized and at the same time sighed with relief that I had not given in to that impulse or I'd have been on the same boat!

And I'm a middle aged mom who can't typically afford to be indecisive. I have to make decisions and make them fast on behalf of my family all the time. But when it came to this blasted watch, well...

Marfans...again, another point of understanding. Yes, 38 mm should suit you best. When I was diagnosed with a heart condition, it was suggested that I seemed to have many traits associated with Marfans, despite being short, and to have my general practitioner look into it. I was very young at the time without many resources or good insurance so I never did. My current doctor has never mentioned it. Looking at my daughter's build, I sometimes wonder. I'll be more proactive in her case. I was extremely thin and getting things to fit me was always a chore. Alas, middle age has cured that problem! ;)

Now I'm a little nervous. I ordered 2 on opening night and have the 4-6 week delivery.

Yesterday I was looking and I accidentally purchased another by touching my thumb and the order went through. I immediately cancelled it and got confirmation that it cancelled.

Now when I go to the website it says my first two orders are processing and the 3rd (accident) is cancelled. I hope they don't cancel any of my first two orders like they did for the OP.

OP - How much time passed between your final order (where you had finally made your decision) and when Apple accidentally cancelled it?

Don't think this is entirely true.

I've order 2 watches under my Apple ID and 2 more watches ordered under my girlfriends ID. Nothing has been cancelled for me.

Have you measured your wrist in mm? Also measure the width of your wrist. Then take a look at countless threads here showing shots of their wrists and the different watches on them.

My wrist's circumference is 175mm. The wrist's width is 60mm. I found that the 38mm is close to perfection. Golden ratio says 60mm x 0.618 = 37.08mm.

Ultimately, either size will work. It's either you want the perfect size or the bigger screen size. It's not more real estate, things just look slightly bigger on the screen when using the 42mm.
