I bought a Canon Lide F500 Scanner and it seems that all my scans using the programmable buttons come out with a red tint or cast. Can anyone tell me how to "get the red out"? Thanks Cheers

By red tint do you mean that everything seems to favor red or magenta more than anything? Or do you mean a tint as though you're looking through say red tinted sunglasses so everything has a blanket of red.

If it's a case of the scanner favoring the magenta that is entirely within character of the canon scanners. Like film, scanners tend to favor one color channel over the other. On the higher end--drum scanners and such you don't get that, but on the consumer models you do.

To offset magenta you'd want to open up your color balance with command+B and use the sliders to adjust the color. I can't really tell you how much or how little, but you should be able to tell.

If it's the other ... blanket of red, I'd take the thing back.
