Can't delete iphone photos when connected to mac. WHY?

I connected my iphone to my mac and I used to be able to delete my iPhone photos in image capture but now the delete button disappeared so there's no way to delete. Why and how to fix? Before it connects, the icon that signifies delete with the red circle and slash is there, but. after it connects and sees my photos, it disappears...WTF!

To further give details, I have Yosemite. And my iphone is a 6+ with the latest software upgrade (8.1.1). When I plug it into my computer, it shows up in image capture and all the images are there. But the delete button is missing.

Yes. Doesn't work. The computer just has that sound that indicates that it's a non working function.
