Hi,

My daughter has just moved out and so now has her own internet and email address. Yesterday she was setting up all her new email addresses. Because she was having problems with setting up one of them, she deleted the old account even though it will still be active for another week or so and then recreated it.

Now she cannot access any of her old emails from that account. The message she receives
"This message from _____ has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it."

There are no emails left on the server and they are not on her online account either. She has some rather important emails in there. Is there anyway she can access them?

Thanks,
Mary

ah with that it may be that you need to reset the POP status of the messages, what provider do you use? else it may be that her settings have been set so that it deleted the message on the server upon downloading.

It is set to delete messages on the server after downloading.

These ones she can see in her inbox on her computer but can no longer open them. They are old emails she had already received. Because she was having problems setting up her new email addresses, she deleted her old account but still had the mail on her computer. When she replaced the old account with a new one, but same information, she has lost the ability to open the old emails.

The old account is still functioning for the moment, as it is connected to our primary account and I have not yet deleted it. We have the same internet provider - sympatico.ca - and can have up to ten emails on our account.

When she added the new accounts for some reason they were cross pollinating and none of them were working. So she deleted all the accounts, including her old one on my account, and started over. For a few weeks, we will keep her old account open as she is communicating with her friends the change in email information. Even after we delete her account, she will still want access to those emails.
