Hi all.

From the top........

I have a Mac pro G5 2 x 2.66 dual core, running 2GB memory and version 10.4.11

for the past month or so my apps have been randomly quitting on me, not opening etc so I decided it was about time I reinstalled OSX with to keep it 'fresh'. After It was reinstalled I couldnt install Quark Xpress 7 again - it kept coming up with an error stating -

Error decompressing 'certain file name' the data doesnt match.

It said this about many different file names: libicui18n.dylib.32.0 and Xalan-c-xc are the first two that usually come up, followed by many others throughout the installation process.

it then says Quark has successfully installed when it gets to 100%, but yet It obviously hasnt because I cant open it, or do absolutely anything with it.

I phoned quark who said it must be a Harddrive error - theyve never heard of anything like this before. SO..i bought a new hardrive, im now running a 250gb in HD1 to run OSX and HD2 will store my info with a backup.

The errors still come up though! even on my brand spanking new HD

- Ive tried numerous versions of quark 7, from the two discs we have, and version 7.3 and 7.5 from the quark website and they all come up with the same error.

- I have also, from advice from quark support, deleted my quark preference files and framework files in Library and the quark files in 'user' Library.

- I also installed on another machine and copied it over into my apps then clicked on the components folder in 'for system' - but I get the same error again

- I also logged into my root user and tried from there but still no luck.

Im drastically running out of ideas, and my workload is now getting huge - and Quark dont seem to have any more ideas of what it could be either.

Help me please!

I have just also tried to download the quark 8 evaluation and it just says installation failed, please try again.
Is does this sound like a hardware problem, even though I have a new Harddrive? Maybe motherboard fault?
