In newer FW anyone know what all the new settings are? Wish they would publish what the ones mean. If so I can post on original post for explanation.

Made the custom firmware as well, still working fine on PSA Cars.

Got "Hardware error: Wi-Fi" after updating my old Carplay2air, just reflashing the update a second time worked, all worked directly on Carlinkit 2.0

Based on the content of the update they are planning to use another Wifi chip (Broadcom BCM4354 802.11ac 2x2 MIMO Bluetooth 4.1) instead of the Realtek 8822 (802.11ac 2x2 MIMO as well but Bluetooth 4.2), which is quite strange because BCM4354 is already quite old (2014)

Great work again. Think soon as you mention because of space think I’ll have to go custom soon on my original CarLinkIt.

Do you know what the new settings do by any chance? Anything in the FW? I posted the screenshots above.

Thanks

Most settings are easy to understand

- GPS : Switch between GPS signal from the car / from the phone
- Frame Rate : Limit the frame rate of the Carplay encoded video (it is a MP4 played by your head unit)
- Media Delay : Delay to sync audio with video ( I usually set 700ms, under 500ms the sound will be hatched )
- Sound Quality : Probably 128Kbits (CD) or 192 Kbits (DVD) encoded audio
- Sync mode : Probably the way how touch is transmitted
- Automatic : I would guess it is about auto connecting your phone at startup
- Startup Delay : Easy to understand, I use 5s
- Background mode : I don't know

Background mode is to run it in startup without any notification screen of CPLAY2Air until CarPlay is starting .
I saw this version in OTA so thank you for posting because some guys did not see an OTA.

Thanks, some odd choices of words to what is actually.

When you say frame rate, what video is playing? The actual sending of CarPlay to head unit mean?

Sync mode - “tactile is transmitted” sorry don’t understand.

When you say media delay, what video is played? Music playing via CarPlay?

The background maybe good idea so we don’t see startup of the dongle screen and just goes straight to CarPlay instead.

Thanks makes a bit more sense!

On the startup delay, mine connects ok now, is a delay I don’t have to unplug/plug to get it working like some, so do I need this? Or is it for specific vehicles that the dongle starts too quick for the touchscreen?

Thanks

CarPlay is a video encoded by your iPhone played by your car head unit with touch transmission. All settings make sense as soon as you understand this

2020 Toyota Rav4, with the new update 28.01.2021 my steering wheel buttons no longer work. Worked just fine on all prior updates.

If with previous firmware all worked perfectly you can rollback. Usually it is not recommended to update unless you have issues

I had no clue!
Is that why some of the UI colors are different when using the adapter vs just straight wired CarPlay?
The adapter is transcoding something wrong?

In a previous post I said I updated to 2021.01.21, but it is 2021.01.20. Strangely, for me 2021.01.28 can not be found. I have been experiencing crashes on this build. Did not happen before.

Like others, I don't see 2021.01.28 available OTA or in the link I usually check: ‎http://www.paplink.cn/server.php?action=checkBoxUpdateByCustomerBoxType&&lang=2&&CustomerType=P&&BoxType=U

How was that firmware released? Directly to a customer? I think I am going to wait until the firmware is officially available OTA... although if it does fix the Mazda issues, it will be great news! I am not optimistic, however - even before the 30 second reboots of the latests firmwares, the older firmwares would appear to work fine in the beginning but then the Mazda system itself would crash sporadically (especially if running certain apps, like Waze and streaming audio at the same time). I would run the adapter for a couple of days (at least) without issues before calling it a success.
