The bottom right "widget" of the CarPlay home screen will change based on if I'm close to home (garage door opener) or have a live activity going. The middle-right "widget" will grow or shrink depending on if there is something in the bottom right spot.

However, the upper right "widget" with shortcuts to start directions to Home or Work is static and always shows. I don't care to have this here. If I want to start directions to either of these locations, I'd prefer to do it in the Maps app, but I almost never want or need directions to home/work and it takes up a lot of screen real estate for something I never use. Does anyone know if there's a way to remove this upper right widget from showing?

* I put quotes around "widget" because I know these aren't true iOS 26 widgets like swiping to the left of this screen will show but not sure what else to call them.

In the current iteration of iOS and CarPlay, there is not - at least not in the "dashboard" view. Of course, you can go full screen with your navigation app or any other app to remove all of the windows/widgets on the right side of the screen, but that doesn't sound like a solution to your issue, either.

With the "dashboard" view, that upper right window/widget is fixed.
