Yes, a lot of people are having this problem. Started with Beta 4 and has also continued into Beta 5 for me.

Been almost 24 hours now, 2018 MBP 15"

Yeah its not frozen. It will go eventually. Beta 4 took 20+ hours for both of my Macs.

Beta 5 took about 14 hours on my MacBook, and is going on 20 hours for my iMac. It is completely ridiculous.

I've made many comments here about this already, but just echoing the above, this happened on B4 for me, and I have not yet done B5 for that reason. It took me nearly 40 hours on B4, on a maxed-out 2016 MBP. Did plenty of hard reboots, PRAM/SMC resets, recovery disk check, etc. Nothing helped, and may have slightly prolonged the install ultimately - so the best advice we can all give is to just head to the pub, grab a pint, and hope this all blows over...

Yep, got the freezing at 9 mins fun.

Will try leaving it all night again like the last one.

Has anyone managed to do a USB stick install for a 2018 MBP 15" with T2 chip?

I can't even get my stick to boot on that machine but it flew in on my 2015 MacBook.

I'm over 24 hours now and still hanging on my 2017 27" iMac.

I'm seriously concerned about screen burn now.

Weird. After all the issues during DB4, you'd've thought Apple would have altered the progress bar to at least say what it's doing. Or put something in the release notes. They're really not bothering as much with these betas as previous ones, such as Mojave.

that's what I told myself after b4... yet here we stand
Well now that it's a really big issue and it's happened two betas in a row, maybe Apple will actually try to fix it in beta 6.

Until then, I'll stick with beta 4. :)
