Very Nixon-era esque, but with a much less-productive and dumber president.

I am not sure what they should do, but it does seem like the investigation is not going the way the democrats had hoped.

Corporate left news media outlets need to stop acting like it's the most important thing to report on. Rachel Maddow needs to be unplugged and serviced. She's been stuck on tilt with this for years and it's not doing the Democrats any favors making it appear that its the only thing they care about.

The problem with the poll is that the vast majority of respondents have not read the Mueller report. All this really shows is how successful Barr was in whitewashing the actual Mueller findings.

No it just shows the majority of Americans care about things impacting their lives, not what the chattering class and blue checkmark crowd are obsessing over.

I believe that all corporate media (left and right) are mostly concerned with earnings.

On the left, the Mueller investigation brought in the viewership and the money. I believe that's why the media on the left don't want to drop the Russian Probe and why they are pushing for an impeachment of Trump.

Without the Russian probe or an impeachment of Trump, what do they have that will keep the viewership ?

I do think there is some fatigue setting in with this, because we Americans have short attention spans. People get frustrated because these processes take time. Of course it would have been great if Mueller's investigation could have been thoroughly conducted over a matter of weeks or months, but these things take more time than most people realize. Impeachment is also a process that takes time. It's not a single season of reality TV, no matter how much Trump tries to make it look like one.

The sad thing is that Americans should care. We have someone in the White House who is acting as if he is above the law. He exhibits authoritarian tendencies and continues to obstruct investigations. I'm not sure if an impeachment attempt (whether it succeeds or not) is good for the Democratic party, but I do believe it is important for the American people. If we can't hold a despot accountable then our system of checks and balances is severely lop-sided.

Actually, the poll was conducted by SSRS, an pollster rated A- by fivethirtyeight.com.

I believe people and candidates with some socialist leanings, love them or hate them, would get viewership and ratings but they won’t do that because that type thing could end up appealing to the base and legislature past in that direction would upset the establishment, donors, and advertisers.

It's not that Americans don't care, they don't care anymore NOW. They listened for two years with the Mueller report, so now, no collusion, no obstruction. Democrats want to keep on treasure hunting and I believe that will cost them in 2020. Congress is not doing much except investigations, meanwhile we have immigration crisis at the boarder with a flu outbreak. So the Democrats need to get their big boy pants on and get stuff done for what Americans really need.

Maybe if they started to factually report the news? I miss that most.

From what I understand watching CBS, the respondents were Democrats.

This is all the source link has:

This poll was conducted by telephone May 17 to 20, 2019, among a random sample of 1,101 adults nationwide. Data collection was conducted on behalf of CBS News by SSRS of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. Phone numbers were dialed from samples of both standard landline and cellphones.

The poll employed a random digit dial methodology. For the landline sample, a respondent was randomly selected from all adults in the household. For the cell sample, interviews were conducted with the person who answered the phone.

Interviews were conducted in English and Spanish using live interviewers. The data have been weighted to reflect U.S. Census figures on demographic variables.

The error due to sampling for results based on the entire sample could be plus or minus four percentage points. The error for subgroups may be higher and is available by request. The margin of error includes the effects of standard weighting procedures which enlarge sampling error slightly. This poll release conforms to the Standards of Disclosure of the National Council on Public Polls.

That's not what the Mueller report said. That's what Trump parrots every two hours.

The only poll which matters is the election.

Polls by surveying the population are inaccurate(and probably biased) and should not be used to determine policy. It is a horrible way to determine the direction of government policy. IMHO
