Previously ripping CDs to MP3 was not a problem. However since upgrading to OS9.2.1 iTools refuses to perform the operation and SoundJam locks up shortly into the converter function. So I downloaded and tried some freeware programs, similar problems! Could this be an OS "feature" designed to placate the RIAA or (more likely) am I doing something wrong here? System is:
Powerbook G3 500 (Pismo)
OS9.2.1
384 MB RAM
12GB Internal Drive
60 GB External FW Drive (7200 RPM)

Thanks, Philip

CD Ripping part II

Well I figured out the problem...it seems that Firewire may be a little sensitive to cable issues. I replaced my external FW drive cable (15') with a 3', no more problems! Too much like SCSI fun & games for my taste!
