Someone had to post this sooner or later so i figured i may as well just do it. We need to have a mental healthcare renaissance in this country because it seems that this will continue happening. This is just so sick and evil. The gunman is dead, he probably shot himself because the state of connecticut would put him to death anyway.

These reports seem to be getting worse and worse - I sincerely hope it's not as bad as they are reporting right now.

Terrible. Coupled with the mall shooting in Oregon.

    What's going on ?

This one will most likely be worse than Columbine.

Reports the shooter was 20 from New Jersey.

"Sources" are also reporting that the shooting took place in a kindergarten class.

    I can't even imagine....

The amount of shootings in this country lately is absolutely insane. I fear they will only continue to rise, as well. What are we to do? :(

I think we should put more police officers in schools in order to prevent this.

It's pretty obvious what we should do.

There is just too little desire to do it.

While this crime may sway some opinions, I doubt it will lead to any real change.

    And the carnage will continue.

We're allowing free access to guns. You can choose to keep the 2nd amendment as it is and decide that things like this are the price we have to pay to keep our "freedom" or we can become sane and amend the constitution to ban guns.

Indeed, the solution is right in front of our faces - but there's too many with their heads buried in the sand.

Since I'm sure that guns will never be banned in the US, I am imagining that eventually you not be able to enter any public building (school, movie theater, library etc) without passing through security and a metal detector.

My condolences to the family and friends of those who died or were injured. A terrible situation.:(

BTW, total 2nd amendment supporter here. I disagree strongly with you on amending the Constitution. However, I have much respect for you for saying that instead of pushing unconstitutional gun control laws.

I've always thought that those who try to push unconstitutional gun control laws were putting the cart before the horse. It makes more sense to begin a movement to amend the constitution. Once that is done, you can then pass whatever you want.

We have a system in place to change the Constitution, and while I disagree with you about doing it on this issue, I respect that you want to do the right thing by working within the constitutional process that exists in these United States.

Folks, if you want to start another gun fight, I think it should be done in its own thread.

    Exactly.

There will be plenty of time for the debate about gun control later.

We still don't even know all the details here.
