Hello,

Running Mojave.

I downloaded a screen saver that I would like to perhaps use.

I had trouble opening the Folder up, but when i did, a msg. came up
saying that I cannot use as "Classic Environment" is no longer supported.

What is this Classic Environment, please ?

Any suggestions on how to open it up and at least see the individual photos in it ?

Thanks,
Bob

Well, if this is the Classic Environment I think it's referring to, it's referring to a Mac OS 9 virtual machine/compatibility layer of sorts that allowed older (non-OS X) programs to run in OS X. It was discontinued after Mac OS 10.4 Tiger though.

What sort of trouble did you have opening the folder?

As already explained it’s probably software written for the legacy Mac OS from the 80s/90s.

It might be easiest to see if you find a new version compatible with Mac OS X/macOS.

You can try a program like Graphic Converter to convert the pictures but if they are type PICT then it might not work.

Maybe try running Mac OS 9 in a Power PC Mac emulator (Sheep Shaver). Convert the pictures to png in Mac OS 9. Or convert them to pdf using PrintToPDF (lets you print to a PDF file in Mac OS 9).

That's not true. Classic emulation via Rosetta was last supported on Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

If you want to run in the old "Mac Classic" environment, install SheepShaver.
It still runs under Mojave and Catalina.
