Im trying to do a clean install on my friends 2006 white MacBook. It is running 10.4.11 when i insert the install discs that came with my old macbook (discs are labeled 10.4.8 - aht version 3a114 - disc version 1.2 ) a message pops up saying this version of os x cannot be installed on this computer.

Anyone know why not. They are both 10.4 tiger after all.

The grey install discs that come with Macs are model-specific and will not work on other models. You can order replacement discs for your model by calling Apple (800-767-2775 in the US).
