I just noticed this on the Apple front page... the clock icon actually shows the same time as the menu bar. 9:42.

Is this for real? Can someone with a Touch comment?

I'm hoping this will be part of the pending iPhone 1.1.1 update.

hooray.

Apple always puts the time on their product pictures at 9:42... but on mine it says 10:15... not the current time.

i know.. in every other iPod Touch and iPhone graphic i've seen, the time on the icon is 10:15. i just noticed this one was different.

hoping for an clock icon that actually tells time - sorta like calendar icon showing the correct day.

on other pictures, you can see the time set at 10:15, like it is with all iphone and ipod touch models. i'm wondering, though, why it's such a big deal for the clock to display the right time when the time is correctly displayed on the top. if any one thing should change, i figure it would be the date.

ummm.. attention to detail. something Apple is usually good at.

Why is it such a big deal to have the icon be accurate?

And back to my original question - why is the graphic on the front page of Apple.com different?

just would be one of those small things you notice that apple took their time to develop. would be sweet though :p

Ok. I'm a bit confused. So what happens when the clock icon is pressed? Is it an analog clock or what?

it's a lot of things, actually. it's an alarm, a stopwatch, a timer and a world clock, displaying in both analog and digital times of whatever cities around the world you choose.

Did you see how (apparently) the iCal icon in Leopard will always show the correct date, even when iCal isn't running? That's pretty cool. If the clock icon did the same thing on the touch, that would also be pretty cool.
