Oh, this has to sting for the GOP.

Gotta love it when a republican former secretary of state endorses a democrat's foreign policy. What will Mitt have to say about that?

He'll probably agree with the endorsement just like he did with everything else about Obama's foreign policy in the last agreement.. err debate.

With the exception of that time he was shilling Bush's war to the UN, Colin Powell has always been a classy guy.

In another article I saw, Powell lamented the loss of moderation and compromise within his own party. This will, of course, be wholly lost on the current bunch of Republicans.

I went to FoxNation to check the comment section on the Powell endorsement. There are so many blatant racist comments it's ridiculous.

Oh, I'm sure. The link that I posted had the same in the comments sections. And everyone says their isn't any racism in the US.

well, since Romney himself endorsed Obama on foreign policy, i don't see why he would disagree.

and he shouldn't, since Obama's foreign policy is as right-wing as it can possibly be while staying semi-reasonable.

Not surprising. I thought he would go this way again. But still nice to hear!

I think it is more damning to Romney in the fact that a former Secretary of State is endorsing his party's opponent, especially given the fact that it's the same people he worked with while as Secretary of State. It shows that he (Powell) has very little confidence in the same people he worked with, who are now working for Romney.

    Very damning.

I didn't know Powell was a secretary or state or a republican. Wasn't he a just general in Iraq?

Actually, I know, but what the republicans must be saying is, "Are you serious?" Just imagine if Madeline Albright or Warren Christopher was out there endorsing Romney.

In a possible popular vote tie as some polls seem to indicate, and with less than two weeks left, this is not what the GOP wants to hear. Among other things, like the 47% percent gaff, and the poor showings in the second and third debate, this election will be Obama's. As far as electoral college, it's been over for a long time now with a map like this, give or take a small or medium sized state.

Yes it is damning. But the right wing has rationalized the endorsement away.

"You know how Black folks stick together! It's Powell endorsing Obama because he's Black! If Obama was White Powell would have endorsed Romney!" He's racist!"

    That kind of nonsense.

It doesn't sting at all...Powell was not that great of a general to begin with, he essentially rode on the coattails of Stormin Norman...and as a Sec. of State was mediocre at best.

Yep, I guess his career has been pretty mediocre:rolleyes::

    White House Fellow
    FORSCOM Commander
    National Security Advisor
Chairman of the JCS (highest position in the armed forces)
    Secretary of State

And he managed to do this despite being from an immigrant family from the BX.

I'd consider myself a success with any one of those positions.
