    Powerful stuff.

When 20-year-old Yana Mazurkevich saw sexual assault convict Brock Turner being released from prison on Friday after serving just three months of his six-month sentence, she wanted to give him the middle finger. But instead of settling for flipping off her television or computer screen, Mazurkevich, a junior photography major at Ithaca College, turned her anger into art.

The result is It Happens, a photo series depicting campus rape in some of the settings where it might occur: in a bathroom; in a classroom; in a locker room; in an alley; and lastly, behind a dumpster.

Looks like a bunch of outtakes from porn videos. An image may tell a thousand words, but it never says which words due to lack of context. Inclusion of words doesn't always result in the same outcome, no matter how simplistic.

Six months alone for sexual assault is way too liberal, never mind being released early after only three. Not "liberal" as in "Liberal" or "Democratic Party", in case anyone is petty enough to try to make such an outlandish association.

All that is missing is a brazzers logo. That being said wasn't he caught in the act? If so he is defective and should be returned to the manufacturer.

If he wasn't caught in the act, wouldn't that become a case of "he said/she said"? The only thing worse than actual assault is falsely accusing someone to the point they are jailed (even as a suspect), which is far more heinous.

That was the intent, but they should have gotten stand-ins from the acting degree programs because most photos' participants look a little too stagey. Heck, look at most degree programs and tell the hard working students what their prospects are nowadays and they'd get more grizzly shocking expressions on their faces... maybe someone from the tv production degree program too...

I imagine there would be other physical evidence, bruising, tears, DNA evidence, although those alone don't mean that an actual sexual assault has taken place.

It's a shame that false claims aren't prosecuted under the pretense that they would lead to less reporting of actual sexual assaults.

Moral of what I am trying to say is don't rape women, and be careful of who you sleep with.

Did you read the purpose and how she shot them? It was shot in a very specific way. I think the photos are very striking. And not provocative in the "porn shoot" way. I can't even wrap my head around that given the framing of the photos themselves.
