nice list! I thought Waterfield went out of business half a decade ago? I guess they're back in business.

EDIT: I forgot to mention Waterfield SF bags are amazing. I had their bag for a 1st gen titanium powerbook. The bag is still in great condition after all the use and outlived the laptop.

xtrememac.com (which you mentioned) has a new case out. Well, I don't think it's on sale yet. But it covers all of the phone like I had hoped. Wish it came in all black though :( Only the front is black and the back is grey.boooo

Thanks for Your Time in Doing This

This is exactly the sort of list I was trying to find for iPhone Cases.

Thanks for your efforts on this.

How about a comprehensive review of cases?

That would be extremely useful. There are just too many cases to choose from. And so many of them get bad reviews on various websites it makes it nearly impossible to make an informed decision. One comprehensive list reviewing the cases would be a major boon to iPhone owners.

List

I've tried the following:

:mad:iSpeck dual pack (pink and clear) Awful! Thin and cheap material. Doesn't fit iPhone at all.

:rolleyes:incase black rubber case. Aesthetically pleasing and feels good. But attracts dirt and dust like crazy and scratches up chrome which defeats the purpose of "protecting" the phone.

:DTimbuk2 Accessory Case. Love it so far...

Best iPhone case I've found!

The best iPhone case I've found is the AT&T branded leather holster for the Samsung Blackjack, $35 with tax.

It's a black leather full holster with magnetic clasp end flap and rotating detent belt clip. The clasp holds firm and seems resistant to opening when my arm or a package brushes the case.

Find this at AT&T (still probably says Cingular) stores.

gotta add http://www.foofshop.com to the list. Great soft cases.
and http://www.bestskinsever.com as well. Fantastic and cheap full body skin.
Lastly, http://www.powersupportusa.com who makes the Crystal Film set and Crystal Jacket Set. The film is great.

I use the Film set, along with the Bestskinsever for the back and chrome, and a foofpod to carry it in my pocket, though with the skin I may not need my foof. It adds padding so that is always a nice benefit.

OMG
I am soooo getting this. http://www.colorwarepc.com/products/select_iPhone.aspx#Tab
lol Oh wait, nevermind. You either have to send in your iPhone to have it customized or buy an iphone through them and have them customize it. Still cool though!

Thank you for sharing. After shopping locally and searching through all of your provided links, I think I'm gonna take the Vaja plunge.

The Belkin clear case scratched my metal, and I think some of the cases are just a little too rugged for such the precious iPhone. It's probably wise (for me) to only have it in a soft case of some sort. Good thing I also have a leather pouch on the side :)

Been lurking since late June and plan to buy my iPhone in early September, when our current cell phone contract (T-Mobile) ends. The kind of case I'll get for it is VERY important to me so I've been focusing on this thread, and similar ones, to let me know what's out there, what others' experiences have been, etc. Powerhouse, thank-you for compiling them...it makes it a LOT easier!

DaveClarkOne, can you be more specific in saying why you think they suck? Have you experienced using the cases, or at least seen them in person or are you just going by appearances on a computer screen? You can start a new thread if you want...I don't mean to hijack this one, which I think is supposed to be more information than opinion. Don't get me wrong; I think your message was brutally honest and very well thought-out. But, knowing that one man's suck is another man's solution, it makes it easier for the rest of us to pick and choose the "perfect" case if you could give us something to back up your opinion of why "they suck." Thanks!

Hmm... How could the rubber scratch the chrome (assuming you mean bezel)... We bought one and it really fits snugly. I can't really see how scratching can happen with it??

Well, like I said. It attracts a lot of dust and dirt. Directions say to clean it out often and when you take the case off, the collected dirts ends up scratching it. When I first bought it, I really really liked it. I didn't start having problems until after 2 weeks! Here is a thread full of complaints on it. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/327110/

iphonecase(s) that work for me.

When I bought my iPhone it was important to me to be able to store the headphones in the carrying case, but i wanted to clip it on my belt. My At&t store had nothing that did both. I initially decided to get the holder for the headphones and carry the phone in my pocket. So, I got the "Jam Jacket" case.
Later I was browzing at Office Depot. I found a case for a Trio I think and fit my iPhone IN THE JAM JACKET into the case and it fir like a glove. Voila I got both my desires met, and it has worked well for me for over a week so far.

so I returned the incase and got the crystal jacket in exchange. I have had the jacket and yes, am noticing it becoming loose like some people have complained. Hopefully, it won't scratch the iphone? I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

When I am out and about it easily fits in my timbuk2 accessory case. Here are the pictures.

Incase seems good

I got the incase leather folio:

http://goincase.com/products/detail/leather-folio-es89018

After a week, itt's holding up well. If you've got problems with those cases that have the belt clip in the middle like I do - the top of the belt clip on this case is at the top of the nylon flap. It's more comfortable for me, I don't like the case digging into my side because the clips orient the case too high. (You can read that as "I don't like being pinched on the spare tire by my cell phone".)

The Vaja cases look really nice even if they are a bit more expensive. Sometimes you really do get better value by spending more.

I attached a picture of the back of the incase leather folio to show the position of the clip.
