What is everyone's opinion of New Hampshire's decision to no longer require special permits to conceal properly licensed firearms ? The New Hampshire Association of Chiefs of Police seem to be against it but the previous permit seemed like it had a very arbitrary approval procedure relying on the different town / city chief's to give their approval.

I'm not sure if I'm for or against it. What's your opinion on concealed carry ?

I'm against all form of firearm ownership minus a couple of exceptions, concealed or not.

My opinion of the decision would be logically based on the data. Unfortunately, we are unable to study or produce statistics around firearms. So, inevitably, we'll have one side saying that it has led to a safer NH and another side saying that it is contributing to more problems.

Until we agree to a data-driven approach to governing, these debates will go in circles in perpetuity.

If we are going to allow people to carry guns they should be concealed. The only reason for open carry is to compensate for something.

If you need to carry a concealed firearm, move to a nicer place. :)

you of all people should know criminals don't obey laws......................... if you can take pot illegally across state lines then others can take guns.......
I prefer to say it's fun sized, easy to handle & not a choking hazard

OP asked for your opinion and I gave it. Did I say I was going to fight to take your little toys away? What is this insecurity?

Do you want to ignore the constitution in order to have it the way you want, or are you accepting that others have a different view, and it is a protected right by the law of the land?

And this is a great example of why those kinds of laws should be on a national and not a state by state level. With possible exceptions for places like Alaska and Hawaii that you can't just drive to.

Usually these rights are attacked by others wanting to take said toys away, so I think it sometimes becomes an assumption that if you don't like them, you want to take them away.

You have that right. Keeping up with others states laws on guns is a pain when trying to travel across multiple states.

I will say - and this may be outdated and/or varies by state - but I always appreciated that a CCW required some additional safety training, finger printing, etc., and that applied some additional scrutiny to carrying a firearm out in public (vs. just purchasing for home, hunting, etc.)
