I'd like to connect a USB-C monitor (specifically, AOC's portable 1080p IPS model) to my MBA via the Thunderbolt 2 port. multiple searches have been frustrating, and lead only to adapters, docks, etc. intended to allow connecting older peripherals to newer Macs with the USB-C compatible ports.

Does anyone know if there is such a thing?

Not that I've seen...

This is the classic example of Apple painting themselves into a corner. I understand their desire to be forward thinking with their hardware design choices... but they're so forward thinking that they are leaving their older devices flapping in the wind.

What would happen if I connected Apple's Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to USB 2 adapter in reverse, using a Thunderbolt 1/2 cable to connect to the female T-Bolt port on the adapter, then connected the USB-C monitor to the male USB-C plug (on the adapter). Would I still get a video signal?
