I recently bought a Mac mini but I still haven't been able to connect my monitor. The Mini-DVI to DVI adapater doesn't work with my PC DVI adapter (all to do with the variations in DVI-I and DVI-D etc).

So I need to buy another adapter.

I noticed there's a MiniDisplay to VGA as well as a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter.

Is there any reason, other than price, to chose one over the other.

I'm connecting to a fairly old TFT monitor with 1280 x 1024 resolution.

The miniDVI to VGA will suffice with that resolution, and it is 10$ cheaper.

    Mucho thankees.
You know, I may actually want to connect it to my 1080p TV at some point. Does the same still stand?
    I should've mentioned that earlier.

There is a DVI to HDMI adapter, so it might work.

You could use MRoogle to search for some topics on that if no one gives a straight answer.

You know, I think I'll just stick with the original adapter and worry about connecting it to a TV at a later date. Thanks for the help.

The apple website page relating to the Mini DVI to VGA adapter states: "The Apple Mini-DVI to VGA Adapter is designed for use with the iMac (Intel Core Duo), MacBook, and 12-inch PowerBook G4."

Will this still work with the Mini as indicated in the Mini manual?

Secondly - is there any difference in quality between using an adapter attached to the Mini DVI or Mini DisplayPort?
