I am wanting to connect my 360 elite to my monitor for some HD gaming. I just received my HDMI to DVI cable and wondering what will happen to the sound. From my understanding HDMI cables also carry audio but obviously my monitor cant output sound so I'm wondering if I can connect my elite to my monitor and then the audio cables (which are connected to the video cables) to my speakers. I would just try it but my xbox is being repaired right now. If anyone thats already done this can you please tell me how you did this.
Thanks

Yes, that's exactly why they give you that audio-out dongle with the Elite. Connect the HDMI to your monitor via DVI, then plug the audio dongle in and connect your speakers to that. If you are just using standard analog computer speakers then you'll probably need to get an RCA (red/white plugs) to 3.5mm converter Y-cable.

add this device and you will be set
