To connect my 13" 2011 Macbook Pro to a monitor that has DVI input, I would just need a mini displayport to DVI (male) cable, correct?

If the mini displayport to DVI (male) cable I have is only 10 centimetres long, would I need a DVI (female) to DVI (male) cable to lengthen it?

Would the only simpler option be to buy a longer mini displayport to DVI (male) cable?

Yes, you will need the MDP to DVI adapter and the DVI cable, but most monitors come with DVI cables already.
I don't know of a longer MDP to DVI cable/adapter though.

Damn good write up simsaladimbamba. I've purchased many cables from Monoprice and they are top notch. I've had to replace two APPLE branded MDP->DVI adapters for the office while the Monoprice adapters are going strong.

Another question, can a DVI-I input accept a male DVI-D?
