Controlling Lutron Lights via Home and Control Center?

I have Lutron light switches throughout my home and the Lutron app works for this. When I open the Home app it sometimes is able to connect and sometimes it does not. I just experimented with the new control center and really want to add the shortcuts to control lights from there, though it never seems to connect. Does anyone have any idea why it is unable to connect to my Lutron based lights consistently through the Home app and the buttons I add to Control Center?
