Got a Mac Studio Max base with 1TB SSD just under two weeks ago. Every time I wake it up from sleep and put in my password it is booting up and tells me it had to be restarted b/c of an error. Every time. Every single time.

And I've been setting this up for less than 2 weeks and really haven't gotten into using it.

Anyone else run into this?

I have the same config and haven't had a single crash.
As lcubed said, crash report might help or create a new user account then see if the problem persists.

Try booting up in Safe Mode. Then putting it to sleep if it wakes up OK there is a 3rd party application that is causing the problem. I have had my Studio Ultra for about 2 months now and have had one crash where I had to reboot.

Contacted Apple Support. They suggested I disconnect all peripherals (none, no printers or scanners were hooked up yet) as well as all drives of which there were 3, 2 Seagate Backup Plus Hubs and a Samsung T3 via USB-C, and finally any docks/hubs. The 2 Seagate drives were connected via a USB 3.1 hub and there was also a CalDigit TS3+ with no peripherals attached to it.

After doing all that, 24 hours later, no crashes, so I am connected devices one by one back to the Studio to see what might cause it. I suspect either the TS3+ or maybe the USB 3.1 hub, but I did find this in my crash log:

panic(cpu 0 caller 0xfffffe0026760130): Wake transition timed out after 35 seconds while calling power state change callbacks. Suspected bundle: com.apple.driver.AppleThunderboltNHI. Thread 0x54dc.

Debugger message: panic
Memory ID: 0x1
OS release type: User
OS version: 21E258

Crashed again tonight. Only connected item is the CalDigit TS3 Plus hub. I've installed their docking utility and the firmware update for it. Their site says it should work but they also mention turning off the full sleep mode to avoid it if it doesn't wake. I'm not thrilled.

I had a base Mac Studio that was doing similar crashing. It had no accessories connected to it other than an Apple Keyboard / Trackpad and a monitor. I tried reinstalling the OS and it was still crashing with just the native applications. I returned it to Apple at the end of the return window rather than risking having a dud and I've been using my 14" MBP whilst considering if I'm game to order a replacement.

I've contacted CalDigit support to see what they have to say. They do have a support page that indicates there is an issue but supposedly with 12.3.1, the correct firmware, 1) there shouldn't be and 2) it would present itself differently. So I'm waiting to see what they say.

Meanwhile I turned off hard disk sleep. Just the display sleeps now and that appears to have fixed it, though that's ultimately not the solution I prefer.
