I have a big problem with my speakers.

After returning to my desk (coming from outside) I must have built up a static charge. I started to adjust the treble knob on the sub-woofer unit and I released a large static shock from my finger to the knob. Immediately after there was a hiss/distortion sound that was constant. I have tried unplugging the speakers and powering off the woofer. I don't know what else to do.

Any help is appreciated!

Wow, I've never heard of anything like this happening.

Have you plugged them back in? If so, what was the result?
The only advice I can give is try and see if you can get them replaced under warranty.

I plugged the speakers back in and the result is the same, just a hiss/distortion sound.

Sadly I bought the speakers in May '04 so the warranty ended in May '05.

Oh, what a shame. :( Maybe there's someone around here that might know a bit more about it (I'm a bit clueless  ). Your only other options are trying to get them repaired somewhere, or start looking around for some new speakers.

So far that's what my situation is looking like. I'll do a bit more research on the internet and if I find a solution I'll post it here.
