Politico headline reads "Rift between Cruz and Senate leaders widens".

Cruz and Lee need to settle down, put noses to grindstone and show they can become reliable members of an important body of government, one which happens not to be The House. These guys both act like they just became first-term Congressmen and are going to set the world on fire. The Senate is about keeping the world from going up in flames. Yeah it gets old waiting for them to become "the decider" but not every newish democracy has managed to live this long, and imo it's partly because the Senate slows things down so people have some time to rethink stuff that the House was hot to have happen, like, yesterday. Not everything is like a video game, so not everything is subject to "redo, redo." Rethinking comes in handy sometimes. Cruz and Lee need a timeout. I think they just got a demo of how timeouts work where they work! :)

There probably were, but they may have more of a clue how to leverage legislative power out of the actions they take (or don't take) as relative newcomers to the "club".

The Senate is never as cozy as it may wish to seem sometimes, but the members still largely understand the old wisdoms of being able to catch more flies with honey than vinegar, not to mention the benefit of having something to trade when your compatriots start trading horses. If you come on like you just want that big horse over there right now, for nothing, you're lucky if the older members just chalk it up to being a newbie and let it pass from memory after awhile. But you ain't gettin' that horse for nothin' and the old guard will gang up to make the point.

The people to watch are the ones you don't hear a whole lot about when they're new, because they're doing their homework and racking up IOUs all over the place.
