Ugh- I hate this so much. There is no way in hell any kid should be homeless. That should never happen.

They should just be rich. ;)

No- but seriously, this is one issue that just kills me. WTF kind of country do we live in where kids are homeless?

Unfortunately, I don't. I know the ones here in Chicago and donate to those. Give me a few and I'll look.

we also have a lot of homeless youth here in Toronto ... many are rebellious kids that do not want to live under their parents household rules.

However we also have many young kids homeless living in shelters with their homeless parent or parents ... those my heart aches for.

so yes ... I do see your point Lee.

Having a tough time. Has anybody else looked? Any New Yorkers here know of any?

There is pretty good list here.

I've volunteered often for The Ali Forney Center(first on the list). Really good organization.

Yeah, this is really sad. The city recently closed down another place in my neighborhood that I used to volunteer at. It was torn down to make way for the NJ Nets Basketball Arena here in Brooklyn. There was supposed to be low cost housing built, but now it looks like that portion of the project will be a parking lot for the next 25 years.

Aren't those city-funded though? Won't these cuts affect those places as well, or are they independent of that?

Thank you for finding that, BTW. Much appreciated.

Some are. They rely on donations as well.

Sylvia's Place is faith based, so I'm not sure they receive government assistance. It's part of the Metropolitan Community Church of New York.
    From their website:

Oh, and, no, they don't try to pray the gay away. ;)

Haha! No- I'm familiar with MCC. They're all over over the place. They do good work. Thanks a lot for posting.

    o go

    No problem.

It's bad enough these kids get kicked out of their houses for being who they are, now many of them will have no where to go, and it'd freezing here in NYC.
At least my city council member was out there fighting for these kids. I'll give her office a call and see what can be done.

Yes, thanks to all who took action of any kind to help make this happen. This is a cause that is very important to me. No kid should ever be homeless in the US, ever.
