The south should have been put down at the end of the not-so Civil War. Instead, it was allowed to flourish, and this is what we get. I'm not even going to talk about North Carolina. Or Ohio.

And what's even worse, is that the law was changed specifically because of this case to never let something like this happen again. They knew it was wrong, and wouldn't reverse or throw out her conviction, despite there being overwhelming proof of her being under duress and it being self defense. Hell, even SCOTUS ruled that juveniles being given life sentences without parole is unconstitutional. This sentence is essentially the equivalent of Tennessee stomping a mud hole into her despite her having 3 limbs blown off of her and assuming being dead harvested a lung to be sold on the black market.

    Yeah.. I went there.

Thank $DEITY that this already has been appealed to the 6th Circuit. If there is any person who would deserve a pardon from the POTUS, it would be her.

We either have age of consent laws in this country or we don't. 16 is 16 whether you're buying cigarettes, having sex, getting a driver's license, shooting someone, being able to vote, or any other issue where a specific age is set as the barrier of entry or denial. But a court doesn't get to waive away someone's minor status in some instances, while also using that status as a punishment for others.

Because this is the very kind of case that pardons are for - we won't see one from the current president.

Sometimes the legal system is a sad, sad joke. Sometimes, you're expected to work harder as a fry cook than you are as a lawmaker. She's a victim twice over, and those who should have protected her are just kicking her when she's down.

I don’t think that this case would fall under his jurisdiction.
