Earlier in the week, we tracked a new all-time low price on Apple's 8-Core GPU, 256GB M1 iMac, and now today Amazon has introduced more colors of this computer on sale. You can get four colors now at $999.99, down from $1,499.00, which is a massive $499 discount on the 24-inch iMac.

Colors on sale include Yellow, Purple, Orange, and Pink. Shipping estimates have slipped into the middle of May with the fastest options, and as far into early June for some. This is quite a discount, so we recommend getting your order in as soon as possible if you're interested; these have been known to disappear quickly.

With this discount, the 8-Core/256GB model is now cheaper than the entry-level 7-Core/256GB model, which has only ever reached as low as $1,099.00 in previous sales. The M1 iMac first launched two years ago in April 2021, and it features a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, M1 chip, Touch ID keyboard, and more.

At this point this is a 2 year old machine due for a refresh, even at $500 off I cant imagine buying it right now (especially since if you *do* want a cheaper m1 they’ll prob drop in price even further when an m2 or m3 imac comes out relatively soon)

It's a great discount.
I'm guessing Apple has a boatload of surplus of these M1 iMacs.

But can you blame customers for not biting on a product that hasn't been updated in 2 years?

Cleaning the stock perhaps?

Apple should offer a model with at least 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD as one of the standard models. Here in Brazil, we can only get discounts for the standard models, which are the ones sold at retail stores. Any custom configuration must be necessarily bought at Apple's official store, for the full price. A 16 GB RAM/512 GB SSD iMac costs USD 4,200 here in Brazil, while the base model (sold for USD 3,000 at Apple) can be found for USD 2,500 at some retailers. While all those prices are insanely high, the high-end configuration is even less worth it. If I were to spend north of USD 4,000 on a computer, I would like a powerhouse that would last me for years and not the current minimum acceptable configuration...

Anyway, looking forward to the new models.

Be careful, Apple is still selling a 2013 Mac Pro for nearly $7,000 in clearance. They might put this back at full price and then some!
Incorrect. Apple's website has no computers listed in clearance, and the oldest refurb machines for sale are 2017.

Be careful. All of the complaints here are tremendously amusing, but please make sure yours are rooted in fact.

This is possibly the biggest issue with buying Apple hardware, especially in bulk or for business. They will sell you a years old machine at full price literally up until hours before they release the new version and immediately pretend the prior version doesn’t exist.

At this rate Apple will offer 16/512 standard by about the year 2030. Right about the time it becomes considered the absolute bare minimum. Just like 8/256 (now with one NAND chip instead of two so it’s slower) is now.

Whereas in the PC world, they put a two year old i5 in a brand-new laptop. Price stability means you can safely order on day one and be sure to get the best price Apple will offer over the lifetime of the product.

you don't pay full price for business bulk orders.

I have an M1 Mini. Very tempting to buy this and sell my Mini to get a nice monitor and the all in one experience plus new keyboard/mouse. Probably would cost me net $700. That's not terrible even though it is 2 years old but my Mini is the same.

I'm starting to jones for the all in one look again.
