The FFRF picked the wrong battle here for several reasons. The first and most obvious being that the Dalai Lama is a political leader as well as a religous one.

Second, are they really giving crap to the Dalai Lama!? Hello? PR disaster? "Let's beat up on a nice old man who likes everybody!" Yeesh.

This made me chuckle, "a dangerous precendent." teehee. Anyway, this group does not seem to understand the politics involved unless they are covert agents for China, and if that were the case they are being very crafty.

Interesting they draw a parallel with The Pope, who like the Dalai Lama is technically a head of state as well as a religious leader. I'm sure if His Holiness did visit, the Vatican City flag would be hoisted quite happily after local Catholic officials explained this.
