Default audio missing after keyboard replacement mbp 2017

HI all, last week i put my MBP2017 in for the replacement keyboard before the recall program expires. Now I notice that there is no longer any options for input or output audio on the setting pages. I can not play anything as there is no output. I've tried a PRAM and SMC reset and nothing has changed. The mac when starting up however still plays the start up sound. So I'm a bit lost if this is an OS issue or a hardware issue. Apparently the keyboard replacement keeps the same logic boards but replaces everything else. Any idea if the replacement broke my logic boards or if the OS has for some reason just lost my input/output? Any idea how to fault find? Thanks.

Guess it goes back to where the keyboard replacement was done for a fix.

Apparently the keyboard replacement keeps the same logic boards but replaces everything else. .

It replaces the top case. You also net a new battery because the battery is glued into the top case.

Apparently the audio board and all associated components speakers etc are all in the top case as well. I return to Apple dealer who replaced the keyboard/case last Tuesday. They looked at it and said it was odd that it could make a sound at start up but then not find the sound components afterwards. They orered another new case from Apple and changed it over again. The problem still remains. They have now ordered a replacement logic board from Apple under the basis there is nothing else left to replace. Noting of course that this really only went in to make sure the keyboard was updated before the recall program expired. 3 weeks later still without a working Mac. I have to say though that the shop has been excellent in support and communications. Not fault of theirs. They are obviously constrained by what they can do with Apple. They have said that this is the first time that they have seen this issue and its rather unique. Its almost like my original logic/sound card were a matched set and that potentially Apple may have changed the design of the sound components and my logic board no longer recognises the newer style cards. Thats all a guess but i find it unlikely that the logic board sound components die when swapped into a new shell.

Replaced the logic boards and now i have sound again.....not sure why but...
