Since the feature was released I've noticed a delay in the time SMS or iMessage messages from iOS appear on macOS in the Messages app.

Before Messages in iCloud, SMS relay resulted in messages immediately appearing in the Messages app.

Now, it's usually or day or up to several days for the messages to sync. In addition, the video attachments sometimes do not sync or result in error thumbnail and a GIF from years ago opens instead when clicked.

Is this normal behaviour or just one of the hundreds of bugs I've reported over the last few years?

since the most recent dual updates to both iOS / macOS, i have noticed that there is sometimes a delay of 4 to 5 seconds - which wasn't there before the updates.

attachments not synching: yes. there have been attachments that have not synced for days on my devices.

you might want to try on yr mac: Messages/Preferences/iMessage/ Sync Now button for each account. that seemed to help.

on the other hand, i have also noticed that when i am working on my Mac, a Message will be delivered to my iPhone silently (no longer a double alert sound one both mac and iPhone. which is nice - it seems to understand that i am on my mac). so i have wondered if this feature introduced has also resulted in some delays.

The "Sync Now" button has never done anything for me, and this is from using several home and work Macs (although I noticed a bug recently where the date sent label changed colour for the most recent message).

I was able to fix this by following the instructions at the bottom of this article:

I received an initial error indicating an iMessage email mismatch, this appears to be a mistake though.

The "Text Message Forwarding" button now appears again and it works as it did before enabling Messages in iCloud.
