so i was messing around with fink and accidentall typed:

sudo rm -rf / (DON'T TYPE THIS!)

which then promptly began deleting my entire hard drive.. i realized immediately and pressed control-C to stop, but not before it deleted a few items in the Applications folder! i found the appropriate packages to reinstall ical but i can't find the package to reinstall the dvd player app on the panther install CDs.. does anyone know where i could look on the CDs to reinstall it? apparently the jaguar version runs ok in panther, but the panther version skips less, so i'd like to put the panther version back on if possible..

thanks for any help!

best,
nick

Having a little too much fun with the terminal, huh? ;)

Try this program, you might be able to extract the DVD Player package from the Panther disc. If you can't get it, just do an archive and install. Shouldn't do any damage.

If you can't get it extracted, and don't want to reinstall Panther, send PM me and I'll send you the player (3.3 megs).
