Just went to Dell's website and saw that they have Penryn BTO options (both 2.5 and 2.6GHz) on their laptops with ship dates of February 26th!

Could the rumored event on the 26th be a Macbook Pro update with availability that same day?

    Let the rumors continue!

Unfortunately, I don't see any relationship between Dell's and Apple's ship dates..

    However...

Those ship dates have been going back and back and back.

Just a few days ago, it said Feb 20th. Then Feb 22nd. Now Feb 26th.

    So, something's fishy.

The holdup for the MBPs has been rumored to be due to the limited availability of penryn processors. There has been almost no shipping of the penryn processors en masse and this news might mean that they are going to be available next week. Apple may have been waiting for the penryns to become available before making an announcement so that they could have them ready the day of the announcement.

Available Penryns = Possible Update to MBP

Very interesting. I believe Dell and Apple are the first to get chips from Intel. Dell because of their volume, and Apple because of how cozy they are with Intel lately.

Man I need my new MBP.
