“Democrats have done a U-turn on their claim from earlier this year that President Trump’s concern about illegal immigration at the southern border was a “manufactured crisis.”

Democrats now acknowledge there is a genuine humanitarian crisis and are preparing to pass legislation that would provide as much as $4.5 billion in federal aid to address the surge of migrants from Central America.”

Dang they really don't want them 'dumped' in their precious sanctuary cities do they?

Throwing temporary money at it won't solve the problem. They need to address immigration laws and fix them.

Yup, Trump has done a terrible job with illegal immigration. He's been driving the numbers up and up and up the last few years.

First, how, precisely, has Trump been driving the numbers of illegal aliens up and up the last few years? You make it sound like he is personably responsible. What did he do?

Second, Trump asked for aid to help solve the border problem.

The Democrats denied him the aid he requested.

Then, they created sanctuary cities, guaranteeing that any illegal alien found there will not be prosecuted, this providing incentive and motivation to cross the border illegally.

The fault lies with the Democrats.

First, he made a public spectacle of threatening to crack down on immigration, which spurred a border rush.

Second, Democrats offered him money. He rejected it.

Then, sanctuary laws do not prevent prosecution for immigration violations.

The fault lies with Trump.

The same way Dems have gun nuts buying out specific ammo, mags, and etc, when there is a talk of a new bill.

What Trump is doing is causing a urgency to cross the border.

None of these change the fact that while the Democrats desperately pushed the "there is no border emergency" narrative, they were horribly, laughably, incorrect, and now changing their tune about it.

Again, Trump asked for border aid, which the Democrats refused, saying "no wall."

How do you stop a border rush?

With walls.

Which the Democrats refused to give Trump.

His hands were tied, thanks to the Democrats, and now they are changing their tune when then problem has gotten too big to ignore.

I still don't understand the Democrat's objection to walls.

Walls will not stop the entry problem by themselves but will act as a force multiplier on our border by concentrating a majority of illegal crossings to specific areas. My opinion and that of many others is that we need walls as a part of a comprehensive strategy and that the walls should be built immediately.

I also don't understand the argument that walls are immoral. What is immoral is allowing the current situation down on the border for both the people crossing the border and the people that live there.

As far as the cost, it would be just a tiny fraction of the total budget.

Could it be that Democrats do not want a wall because Trump wants one ?

Schumer offered Trump $25 billion. He said no. Why? Because the promise of a wall is more important to Trump's search for votes than an actual wall is to Trump's desire for fixing a problem that he created and exaggerated.
