Every Democrat up for election this fall should be forced to take a position on this. I want Joe Manchin, Heidi Heitkamp, Claire McCaskil, Joe Donnelly, Tim Ryan, etc. to be forced to take a position on this. I want Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer to have to state that they would bring an assault weapons ban to the floor for a vote should the win back congress. Let’s see if they win back Congress running on an anti gun platform.

Why? Are you going to demand the Republicans do the same?

No why would I do that when the majority of Republicans don’t support it? Democrats do. I want to see them run on it. Let’s see if they get elected running on an assault weapons ban. We already know Republicans get elected being pro 2A.

Being anti assault weapon is not being anti gun. You are suggesting the usual "they want to ban all our guns" argument.

What is your position on an assault weapons ban? I support such a ban.

As do I, and a sizable majority of Americans.

Reinstating the assault weapons ban would be a good start, although hand guns are the biggest problem. But politicians should not all have to pledge support for a future bill. That has been a disaster with the Republicans pledging not to raise taxes resulting in sane Republicans losing primaries and the country’s debt exploding.

One of the worst school shootings (the worst?) was done by a hand gun.
10x more are killed by hand guns than Semi-auto rifles.

    Consider that.

    I support the 2nd Amendment.

Well then let Democrats take a position on that too. I want to see if an anti-gun message works at the ballot box.

I thought the assault weapons ban was proven to be pointless posturing.

Why should everyone have to do a singular thing? What if the Democrat isn't in favor of an AWB or is a 2A supporter.

Not directly at you, but that's not really what people mean when they say that. What they usually mean is that they support a particular interpretation of the 2nd amendment that has been pushed by the gun industry over the last few decades.

I support the 2nd amendment. I just support the interpretation that existed for 220 years before the Heller decision invented a new one.

I support the Right for people to keep and bear arms including semi automatic assault rifles. Is that clear enough? Let Democrats run on banning these weapons. If it’s true that the majority of America agrees then the Democrats will win in November.
    --- Post Merged, Feb 22, 2018 ---
Democrats will never pledge this because the want to be re-elected and they know that the people who vote don’t support it.

You're asking if some politicians have integrity?
    Ha. Hilarious!
Whilst they take money from lobbyists and their organisations to fund their campaigns, then no, of course they don't. Across the board, there is lack of integrity in politicians. Nothing to do with which side they sit on.

You can support the 2nd amendment and still be for an assault weapon ban (me). The 2nd amendment does not allow you to keep and bear any weapon of your choosing.

Thank you, for being the only person to answer.

For the record, I've never seen a gun that looks scary to me. I'm more afraid of the person who wants to harm me.
