To think there's some simple piece of legislation is a joke - that's where ideas like a stupid "wall" come into place. A laughably-simplistic "solution" to a very complicated problem. And an ineffective one at that.
Walls and fences work just look at East Germany and the USSR. What keeps people in also works to keep people out
I think a combination of stricter laws on employers who hire undocumented workers and an easier path to at least get into the country is the way to go. By "easier", I don't mean give them an ID card and let them in.
I have always been for going after those hiring illegals
No matter how nice the facility, many will call it a "camp" just to create emotional dissension, make headlines, and generate political leverage.
If the tents are the same ones I have slept in during deployments and trainings they are nicer than some buildings I have slept in and you are right it is to create emotional dissension
I am sure that doesn't account for the refugees they have been bringing in who are terrorizing Europe. I work with a lot of European agencies and I am being told the opposite from what you post from multiple people

Again, this has nothing to do with the thread and yet again Democrats cannot put forth a viable solution to the issue at hand.

WHAT IS A VIABLE SOLUTION???
Lower the cost for legal citizenship. Hire more workers for faster processing. More government jobs for people but put oversight and deadlines. No waiting 8 months to be approved or not. 1 month maximum. Temporary housing at border for those applying through proper channels. If denied, two strike warning or indefinite detention. Children will be accepted with no denials. If needed, we have to seperate them from the people being denied. They will be denied due to crimes, drugs, trafficking, etc. So children will be safer apart.

Apply at the proper ports or be deported but allowed to submit to proper port immediately. All parties, including children will be under this procedure. Unaccompanied minors will be escorted to proper port safely. If second attempt is made after offering proper port, put adults in jail and send children to live with sponsors or family members in the USA. Register them and use resources to keep them from getting lost in the system. Over 1,400 were not able to be contacted before. We need to spend the money on making sure this won't keep happening.

During a reasonable sentence being completed by the adult(s) who came through improper channels/ports twice, start processing them to see if they qualify for citizenship. If they don't due to previous crime, drugs, trafficking, etc deport again. Tell them if they try again a third, they will be held indefinitely.

Let out people in jail that are there due to petty crimes like Marijuana and other non violent crimes. This will make room for the indefinite detentions of criminal immigrants.

This won't make everyone happy, I know that. I'm sure someone just read this and has choice words for me. This is my opinion though.

I actually lived near the Fulda Gap and in West Berlin and it was difficult to travel from West Berlin to West Germany
Is this a case of someone ASSuming?
Yes
Sometimes, it is useful to question whether the work that you are engaged in has value.
What keeps people in also works to keep people out

Got a little sidetracked there. Sorry.

Let's see, you were admiring East Germany and the Soviet Union? Pray continue.
Never once did I admire East Germany and the Soviet Union. You must not have been able to comprehend my posts so I will try to use smaller words in the future
I agree conservatives do that all the time lol.

Also, instead of deflecting over and over again tell us what will satisfy you regarding service. Did you do your 20 years?
It would be your political ideology that puts words in other people's mouth

When you say 'landslide' you mean a large cascading disaster and not an overwhelming majority, right? o_O
Actually, when he said "landslide" I think he meant "electoral fluke."

If you can't answer a simple question that says a lot about you as a person
You are so right.

(he says with an ironic glee sure to be missed by the previous poster.)

Ahem:

Walls and fences work just look at East Germany and the USSR
The Berlin wall wasn't just a concrete slab.

Its design included a "death strip"

People died in that death strip. They died because someone designed in that eventuality. They died because someone trained guards to shoot at people crossing that zone. And they died because guards did what they were trained to do. The system worked!

And yet, there are people--liberals mostly-- who will argue that these deaths were something more than jobs well done and examples of the Berlin Wall working as designed-- they were human beings who deserved more.

I know. It's crazy. But some people value human life more than they value walls.

Since you are cherrypicking my post here is what I said "Walls and fences work just look at East Germany and the USSR. What keeps people in also works to keep people out"

That would work along the Mexican border to keep illegal immigrants from invading us

My father worked along the Berlin Wall and patrolled the Fulda Gap with the 11th ACR so I am familiar with its workings

It is proof that it worked because it keep people out of East Berlin who shouldn't have been there

I value American lives and look at illegal immigrants as what they are criminals who are invading another country. Some days I wish I went to ICE or Border Patrol instead of my current federal law enforcement agency

Given your interpretation of the law and your lack of empathy, I'm glad you didn't.

I have empathy but not for illegal immigrants who are invading this country. They are criminals and need to be punished. I have friends I served with who work for Border Patrol and you would be impressed with who my current federal law enforcement agency is

The agency perhaps. But you don't impress me. Sorry.
