    I do not think that will ever happen. There is strong strong prison lobby, one of the party's seems to support disenfranchisement of voters, and the US would have to get over it's morality issues first.

    It makes sense economically, scientifically, and societally, which means it will have a strong opposition ;). Even if that tops the charts from now until Jan, I doubt the administration even acknowledge the question.

    It would however be an interesting way to practice new politics...

    The incoming Veep is a known Drug Warrior; he was a leader in the legislation to create the Drug Czar post. And with the economy being in the shape it's in, some social ideas are way, way down the priority list...

    Thanks Dan! (although I did make a grammatical error ;))

    I did not even think about Biden in the equation. He had a lot of success with the crackhouse legislation and tried to ride that tide to the RAVE Act, which thankfully did not get as enthusiastic of a response.
