I really love this show. I liked where they were going with this season, showing Dexter evolving, becoming a little more "human" and caring for Lumen (god, i hate that name...).

I was rather disappointed with the season finale. First of all, Lumen just knocks off the last guy and suddenly she's a normal person again? Yeah, right. Second, the thing with Deb hinting that she knows about Dexter's involvement was kind of poorly done. It was too ambiguous and poorly timed, IMO. On top of that, the Quinn thing was wrapped up too quickly and easily.

I thought that the finale was done pretty well actually. The things they could have changed would have been his conversation with Quin at the end, and also I think Deb should have seen something behind the curtain, maybe his shoe or something? and then she puts that together later. IMO that would have been a good cliffhanger, to finish the season with Deb realising Dexter has the same shoe as the vigilante or something like that.
And I think Lumen should return in the next season, discovering that she is not totally normal and now has the same dark passenger as Dexter, I just think that would make the storyline more interesting.

Now I just have to wait for the DVD's to come out in Australia to buy them, I feel guilty for 'acquiring' the episodes, but the DVD for season 4 has only just been released here and season 5 will likely be released when season 6 comes out in the USA...

I thought the Season 5 finale was a bit of a let down... I thought Jordon Chase would be harder to defeat than a spoiler>>simple knife in the foot<<end spoiler. I was surprised that Dexter's sister violated her trust as a police officer although I understand she is human and sympathetic to the plight of No.13. And what about Quin? Is he so enamored with Debra Morgan that he is willing to push aside his suspicions of her brother regarding the death of Stan Liddy and bleed over from last season and the Trinity Killer?

Looking forward to next season.

Did anyone watch it last night? It was one of the strongest openers of the series.

So agree! That last scene really made the episode.

BUT i have to admit, the "upcoming previews" that were shown at the end of the episode was a tad bit underwhelming.

I hope Wes isn't going to be one of the bad guys of the season :l

I always make sure not to watch the upcoming previews.

I felt that the writing was a bit weak at times during the episode:

Why would Deb go buy the gas they used to set the church on fire at a nearby gas station? Why weren't they worried about cameras? Why didn't they just take the gas from one of their cars' tanks?

Why would Dexter risk getting caught on camera at the airport when he grabbed that Ukrainian dude? There are cameras everywhere at airports.

Besides those two things, it was a great episode, and I'm looking forward to seeing how Dexter handles this loss of control.
