I'm trying to fully disable the wifi on my iPhone for work purposes and have read that some iPhone users have their wifi option greyed out preventing them to access wifi services.

Does anyone know how I go about sorting this on my phone?

I'd rather not have to use a non wifi handset whilst at work and since I never use it on my phone anyway I'd happily lose it as a feature.

    Thanks

Lol unfortunately I need to fully deactivate it all together.

I was hoping that it would be something that was possible through a jailbreak maybe or a tweak of a setting.

I've read loads of posts suggesting fixes and solutions for the 'greyed out wifi' issue that some users had but no posts on how to create it.

    Thanks

It's a side effect of a bad firmware flash.

Btw your 6.1.4 cannot be jailbroken any way, so even if there is a fix it won't help you.

Would you happen to know which firmware would cause it?

Maybe I could downgrade to that firmware and solve my problem?

I've been reading a few articles about users who experience the greyed out wifi issue and all of them lost their MAC address as part of the issue.

Is there anyway I can remove the MAC address from my phone?

    Thanks

    You seem a bit paranoid...

MAC address is necessary for many things.

You cannot downgrade either on on iP5.

You're actually asking how to break your iPhone?

    Haha, that's a new one. :D

Haha yea I know it seems like a strange request but I'd much rather remove this one feature than be forced to use a crappy non-wifi handset. I might as well use a Nokia 3310.

I think I may have figured a way to solve this thanks to a combination of forums I've posted on.

If I remove the com.apple.wifid.plist daemon from my phone using SSH then it should grey out the wifi option on my phone according to this website http://www.sinfuliphone.com/showthread.php?t=10015836

I'm just going to have to wait until 6.1.4 is jailbroken before I can do this right?

    Thanks

Except no one is working on a 6.1.3/6.1.4 jailbreak and assuming it eventually comes out, it'll probably be after the iOS 7 jailbreak comes out assuming they're using at least one of the exploits they have saved up

And to be honest, it's probably easier to just use a basic phone while at work over going through all this to use your iphone

You could try downloading the iPhone configure app in the. Mac App Store and see if there's a way there

Only other way would be to open phone and break the actual antenna but that runs the risk of killing others ones as well. Like the cell antenna.

As your firmware can't be jailbroken the only way to disable the wifi is to physically discount the the antenna cable.

This is easily done by removing the 2 bottom screws of your iphone then lifting the screen up. Be careful not to break the cables on your screen. If you remove the Battery you should see a small wire running across the top of the battery location that connects to the motherboard. If you discount that your wifi will no longer work. This will also mean you can reconnect it in the future.

Plenty of videos on the Internet that you could checkout how to open your iphone.
May I ask my you want to disable the wifi? Seems a bit strange
