Duff-Man says....yeah, what's wrong with the current one - it works just fine as far as I am concerned. I've heard nothing about a new version though if I were to guess maybe when 10.6 comes out it might be time for a new "full" version.

And MowingDevil - I respectfully suggest you have another (or first?) look at the Forum Rules, specifically the one about "bump" posts......oh yeah!

What's wrong with current one? BTW. It's DiskWarrior.

Thanks for the type-o correction

This is whats wrong w/ the current version (if you have the latest Macs available which I'm receiving soon):

DiskWarrior 4 version 4.1 is now shipping on DiskWarrior CD revision 42. This CD is a universal startup CD that can start up both PowerPC and Intel Macs. All Mac models meeting the system requirements for DiskWarrior except the new Mac Pro and Xserve models introduced on 01/08/2008, the MacBook Air introduced on 01/15/2008, the MacBook/MacBook Pro models introduced on 02/26/2008 and the iMac models introduced on 04/28/2008 can be started from the CD. An updated disc that will also start up the most recent Mac models will be released as soon as Apple, Inc. releases new startup files to Alsoft, Inc. and other developers. Click here to learn how to repair the directory of a disk in a Mac model that cannot be started from the DiskWarrior CD.

Sounds to me like the startup disk won't work on the current MBP, no?

ps Sorry about the bump, didn't know and really wanted some response.

I think that Alsoft will release an upgrade to the current version of DiskWarrior with support for new models. You have to wait patiently :)

Kind of a basic question, but have you contacted Alsoft directly with a question about when they expect to have a disk version that wll boot the machine in question? I would think that they would be the authoritative source of information about that...

I've sent them an inquiry, probably hear back on monday. In the meantime, just thought someone here might have heard something. I def need to get an updated OSX version of the software to fix an external drive but am getting a new MBP...sorta makes sense to get a version that will work on the new comp.
