Behind the Scenes of Disney's Donald Trump 'Hall of Presidents' Drama
    https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/...disneys-donald-trump-hall-of-presidents-drama

According to our source, Trump's communications team turned what should have been a simple recording process into a public relations nightmare—one that Disney executives twisted themselves in knots to avoid, in order to save face for the president, and ultimately, save face for themselves.

"When Disney tried to get this process started earlier this year," said the source in an email to Motherboard, "Trump's people said, 'We'll be writing the speech that the President's Audio-Animatronic figure will be saying.'"

"The Imagineers [the researchers and developers behind Disney's theme park attractions] tried to point out that they're typically involved with this process," continued the source. "That they directly collaborated with Clinton, Bush, and Obama's people when it came to figuring out what the President's Audio-Animatronic figure would say. Trump's people said, 'No. We're writing this speech. You guys have no input on this.'"

It is the end of this article that, if true, is truly sad.
"They'd particularly like to avoid him tweeting about this situation," added the source. "It would most likely result in a call for conservatives to boycott Walt Disney World, which is the company's biggest fear. "Disney officials are bending over backwards in an effort not to be seen as disrespectful towards President Trump," said the source.

I find it amusing that this imbroglio is about puppets and who gets to decide what to make them say.

The circle of life imitating art imitating life.

I can't get to the article at the moment but I'm missing the part where this turned into a "public relations nightmare—one that Disney executives twisted themselves in knots to avoid, in order to save face for the president, and ultimately, save face for themselves."

Trump wants to be trump and not the puppet version that Disney wants.

Oh right - you like it when people stick it to other people. And certainly when there's tradition and mutual respect involved. Apparently that's too much to ask for with Trump. But we knew that. This shouldn't surprise anyone. I can assure you though - whatever Disney would have written will be far better than what Trump's team comes up with based on his recent speeches. Not sure Disney is going to go for Trump's robot holding up an electoral college map and whining about the election.

Personally I like what someone suggested months ago. He doesn't speak - but throughout the presentation you see him tweeting on his phone. Far more accurate.

WHAT puppet version. You mean give a simple speech vs his typical rhetoric?
I love how you're making Disney out to be the villain here and make this about Disney wanting/needing control.

Sorry - they screwed up how? What did they screw up. Can't wait to hear this one.

You know what - don't answer. You're off on your own little adventure there and defending Trump. Even though you think he's an idiot.

I think the most suitable thing to do would be to program a simple AI that interrupts the prepared speech at random points, and inserts a few of Trump's off-script go-to remarks, such as "bad, very bad", or "terrific, trust me", and so on. It shouldn't be difficult to put together a litany of them, based on past performance. I've written game bots that did this, and it's not difficult, believe me. Really, it's terrific, trust me.

    liberals........

if I make a robot of you (yes it will be sexy thanks to my imagination) and I want to display it to the world and the robot will say what I want him/her/it to say ( i don't know what the robot self identifies as even if I built it) and YOU say NO because YOU want a robot that looks like you to say what YOU want it to say, then I have a choice to make, either I let YOU dictate what MY robot will say OR I can simply make my robot say what ever I wish since I OWN IT........

does that make things a bit clearer?

It doesn't explain how Disney screwed up. I know what Disney's choices are.

This has nothing to do with liberals. That's just some silly deflection/name calling you want to throw in because you think it's cute. Sad.

It's a proposal, not the final product. The content of the final list will require extracting data from numerous Trump speeches. It's usually pretty obvious when he goes off-script, but if there are a few questionable ones, then I think a bi-partisan panel can be put together to decide those. Again, that's part of the proposal and statement-of-work. I'm not doing production-level work until after a contract has been signed, and the payment clears the bank.

I've noticed that happens a lot. Depending on topic, he will go the other way. I assume it makes the day go by faster.

This should be interesting for the 10 people a year who actually watch that attraction.

Given there's no additional charge for the attraction - I don't see it as a big loss for Disney. It's something they maintain because they want to have main street have historical significance. Personally I like the American Pavilion show at Epcot better anyway ;)

No your posts support Trump and him being able to do whatever he wants and Disney has to deal with it. The issue here is cooperation. You love when Trump sticks it to the press and other things.. so it's no surprise your reaction here.

Now this is really searching for something to gripe about Trump on. If Trump doesn't want to do it, or has conditions such as his speech writers must be involved then so be it. Lets move back to complaints about Trump not tying his shoes correctly.
