Hello all,

I've got a mid-range 2016 MBP that I've been using since.. well, 2016. It has been solid, but in the last two weeks, it has started to give me some problems. The main issues are related to the display (seemingly), using external displays, and large files.

The first time was when I was working in Adobe Premiere. Whole sections of my timeline ended up being "blank". After spending a few weeks on the edit, it was a bit panic-inducing. After a couple of hours of troubleshooting, I deduced that the problem must be related to running an external monitor and it needing too many resources from the computer. I unplugged the external and that helped enough for me to get the edit finished. However, it was still touch and go.

Last night I was working in Photoshop (admittedly on a very large file... 30+ gigs) and photoshop crashed on me. It crashed while I was trying to save the file, so... kinda hosed there. However, when I tried to reopen the last saved version I had, the computer began to really struggle.. taking upwards of 20 minutes to open the file. Halfway through one attempt, I got an error message about problems with the display driver. So... seems like there is something in the display/display management?

Anyone ever had this issue? Would adding an eGPU to my setup help with processing these large graphics and video files? Any advice would be most appreciated.
